TWINOXIDE DISINFECTION PROPOSITION
The suppliers of disinfection products for drinking water and process water are numerous. The majority of present suppliers deliver solutions with Chlorine Gas or Chlorine Lye. Unfortunately these products are not pH-stabile and not very health – and environmental friendly.
Chlorine Dioxide is already for a long time known as a disinfectant and due to the disadvantages of other disinfectants. The use of chlorine dioxide is increasing in the world of drinking water, breweries and sewage, as chlorine dioxide is very effective against Bacteria, Legionella and Salmonella.
When using traditional chlorine dioxide the investment in necessary expensive equipment for production is substantial, involving e.g. a fireproof building and highly educated & trained personnel. Furthermore, this production installation needs certification and a license due to the explosion danger involved when producing traditional chlorine dioxide.
Disadvantages of traditional chlorine dioxide:
Transport of Chlorine Dioxide is not possible;
Before thinning the chlorine dioxide any contact with air causes an explosion;
Chlorine Dioxide causes free chlorine, chlorite, and chlorate;
Chlorine Dioxide is highly corrosive;
The chlorine dioxide production involves high investment cost and high cost of operation;
The yield of a chlorine dioxide production plant is, in theory, ca. 80% but practically ca. 50-75%.
